Happy Thanksgiving

I just love this time of year. When we can all get together with our family and friends to celebrate. I hope that your Thanksgiving was as good as mine was. We have so much to be thankful for this year. We are so thankful for our children (even if they do drive us mad!). We're thankful that Neil's parents surived that horrible car wreck, and that they are healing. That we both have jobs so we are able to provide for our family. For my parents, especially for Diane, who is so willing to listen to me if I've had a bad day. I'm so glad that she is there for me at those times. And we are grateful for all of the other blessings that we've had this year, both big and small.
I posted a picture of all the grandkids that were at my Dad's tonight. Some of them didn't want to smile and one was laughing so hard that I finally just had to take the picture. Just to let you know who is who: In back (with the pink hat) is Madison. Then there is Andy and Karlee. In front is Nick and Felicia, who is holding Alyssa. Madison and Karlee are Kim's girls. And, Alyssa is Steve's and Mary's daughter.

neil's christmas present

Neil found what he wanted for Christmas, so I let him have his present early this year. He found a 30-378 Weatherby Magnum (a very big rifle) that he has always wanted. I attached video of him and Felicia shooting it. If it's jumpy I apologize. We were at the Lee Kay range and everytime someone else shot their rifle I jumped.

christmas questions

I've been getting this e-mail from a lot of people. So, I'm posting it, so that who ever wants to read it can.
1. Wrapping paper or gift bags? I like to go all out when I'm wrapping for christmas. That includes the wrapping paper, bows, ribbons, etc.
2. Real tree or Artificial? I have a fake one, but I like the smell of a real one. So, I buy evergreen candles to get that smell.
3. When do you put up the tree? Right after Thanksgiving (Neil hates it that early, but I do it anyway).
4. When do you take the tree down? Around Jan 2nd, sometimes earlier if I get tired of it.
5. Do you like eggnog? NOT
6. Favorite gift received as a child? The cabbage patch doll with the clothes that my mom made for it out of her old maternity clothes. (I still have it).
7. Hardest person to buy for? any male in my family (Neil, his dad, my dad, etc.)
8. Easiest person to buy for? Felicia
9. Do you have a nativity scene? I have 2, and they were both my moms, so they are real special
10. Mail or email Christmas cards? Mail, I like to hang the cards on my door frame in the livingroom.
11. Worst Christmas gift you ever received? The lump of coal that Neil gave me for our first christmas together. (He gave it to me as a joke. I've still got it in my ceder chest).
12. Favorite Christmas Movie? Christmas Story. I watch it when TNT or TBS do their 24hour marathon on Christmas Eve.
13. When do you start shopping for Christmas? All year long, especially if it's on sale.
14. Have you ever recycled a Christmas present? Yes
15. Favorite thing to eat at Christmas? Anything that is chocolate
16. Lights on the tree? My fake tree came with the lights already on it.
17. Favorite Christmas song? Oh Holy Night (the Josh Groban version is great).
18. Travel at Christmas or stay home? I've got so much family to see that I pretty much live in my car that day.
19. Can you name all of Santa's reindeer's? Yep, Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donner, and Blitzen, don't forget Rudolph. After hearing my mom and aunts sing a song every christmas that names them all I can't help but remember.
20. Angel on the tree top or a star? Angel
21. Open the presents Christmas Eve or morning? The kids get to open one present on Christmas Eve. The rest have to wait until morning.
22. Most annoying thing about this time of the year? I can't think of anything. I love this time of year.
23. Favorite ornament theme or color? My kid's first christmas ornaments.
24. Favorite for Christmas dinner? I try to make something special every year. But, we do buy shrimp every year for an appetizer. The kids really like that.
25. What do you want for Christmas this year? I would absolutly love the have my Honda DN01 for Christmas, but I can't afford it right now.

BYU-Utah

Ok, I don't want to be a traitor to my team, but did Hall forget what color BYU wears. He must have been color blind most of the game because he kept throwing to Utah. BYU could've so won the game if Hall had payed any attention to who (or more appropriately, what) he was throwing to. The only satisfaction there is to have is that even though Utah is undefeated they will most likely not be able to play for a national championship. So, BYU can still claim to be the only team from Utah to win a national championship.

Twilight

It's finally out!!! I took Felicia and her cousin Spring to see it on Friday. It was so cool. In the scene where Edward comes walking into the cafeteria the whole theater erupted into a loud roar. All the girls were screaming. It was so fun!! The movie followed the book fairly well, I thought. It left out some things, but I expected that.

BYU-Utah

Well, the big game is this Saturday. I really hope that BYU beats Utah. This game is going to be good. If BYU does beat Utah it (might) give them a chance at a BCS bowl. So, on Saturday show your team pride (especially if you're a BYU fan). And, make sure that the Utah fans can hear you cheering for the COUGARS!!!

Neil's dad

Neil's dad had to go in for surgery today. He had a cancerous tumor on his kidney that had to be removed. He is doing well, but he has to stay overnight for observation. He did have a hard time coming off the anesthesia. He became a little combative with the nurses. But, other than that he's fine.

Utah vs. TCU

Okay, to all my fellow BYU fans out there I'm sorry, but I'm a traitor. Neil won tickets to the Utah-TCU game tonight. So, I went with him. We had seats in the VIP section. Totally enclosed with all the food and drinks that you want. Even though it was Utah, I've never had so much fun. The game was so good, and I found myself cheering for Utah (the enemy)!!! It was a very close game. Utah was behind 4 pts. the whole game, until there was about 5 mins. left in the 4th quarter. They somehow rallied together to finally score a TD to lead TCU 13-10. Then they held TCU for the rest of the game. So, yes tonight I was a traitor to my team. But, I'll cheer so loud for BYU when they play Utah in two weeks. BYU needs to win the rest of their games to (hopefully) get a BCS bowl bid. I know they'll walk all over San Diego this Saturday. But, they have Air Force and then Utah. Those two games should be really good.

Holy Cow!!

I know in my last post I complained about Obama becoming president. All I can say now is yeah! (I'm being sarcastic). As many of you know Neil teaches the state required class for carrying a concealed weapon. Ever since Obama was elected Neil's phone has been ringing non-stop. He is now totally booked up for November. He has started to double book days (holding one class in the morning and one at night). Plus, he still has to work up at St. Marks for his regular job. He has never gotten this many calls for concealed weapons courses. So, thanks to Obama and the country for giving my husband all this business (I still don't like the idea of him being president, but I do like the business it has brought us). It will totally help us with Christmas coming.

New President

This is one of the few political posts that you will see on my blog. America just voted for Barack Obama to be the 44th President of the USA. How do I say this nicely, I think this was a big mistake for our great nation. I really do hope that he does a good job, but some of his ideas scare me. My biggest fear is his stand on gun rights. I totally believe that he will start to ban all types of guns. And with a democratic congress and senate to help him I think he will do it. He also wants to cut down our military and the funding for all our soliders. I just am in total shock that he won. I truely hope that I'm wrong about Obama, but I just don't see him leading our country in the right direction. Sorry if I insulted anyone out there, this is just my opinion.

Election

Tomorrow is election day. Please don't forget to vote. This is one of the most important elections this country has had in a long time. No matter if you're Republican or Democrat. Even if you don't like McCain or Obama. Go and vote, make your voice heard because it does matter.

November Birthdays

Just a quick Happy Birthday my brother Mikey. He'll be 31 on November 16th!!!

HSM 3

I took my kids to see High School Musical 3 last Friday. It is totally geared towards pre-teen girls though. There was only 3 boys in the whole theater, and Nick and Andy were two of them. Those poor boys were surrounded by screaming teenage girls. Everytime Zac Efron (Troy Bolton from HSM) came onto the scream all the girls were yelling "I love you" or "I want to marry you". It was nuts!! At least my kids had fun and that is what counts.

Halloween

Well another Halloween is over. The kids had a blast. I can't believe how much candy they got. We went to Bountiful to see Grandma Asmus and to Layton to see Grandpa and Grandma McCurdy. It was a lot of fun. Felicia was an evil fairy. Andy was an army guy (his costume was Neil's sniper outfit when he was in the army). And, Nicky was a hunter.
